Modelling industry has so many issues to look into but it hurts me most times to see that nobody cares to look into them but only pretend all is fine. We have thousands of agencies, thousands of pageants, thousands of fashion shows but the question is.....how many of all these has good aims. Now, let me take this step by step.........A lot of agencies are open, how many are registered? how many know what the business is all about? how many brings jobs to models? Honestly, there is more to modelling than taking studio pictures. Modelling is a business, not a joke. But how would the industry grow without being fair to models. Now to pageants. Everyday, you hear ''Miss this, Mr that''. The question is,what is the purpose for the pageant? what future do you have for your queen or king? There should be more than just wearing a crown . Then to the most annoying aspect of the whole issue, FASHION SHOWS.....now, imagine this. An organizer calls for auditions, you go, pass, then prepare for the show. At the end, he leaves without paying up. This is nonsense. complete trash. For crying out loud, modelling is a career. The first thing one should do while organizing a show is to bring out the payment for models.Modelling is not meant to be all charity. Really, the Models guild of Nigeria and that in other African countries should look into this.
Hear what most African models has to say concerning this issue...........
SILVER says " When i started,it was really hard on me that i almost gave up. Gone are those days of gays, where by models are forced to choose gay or leave the industry.Thank God now, models can do without being gay. If i can get through, definitely, someone else can. You have the right to choose what you want in the industry. |
ANONYMOUS says '' hmmmmm honestly, a lot
to say mehn.It use to be fun.....but now, organizers do shows without
bearing paying models in mind. The industry is fucked up,really fucked
up. Gays and LES everywhere. You know how many gays want me? hehehe,i
can't be gay cause of modelling...nah..i can't.The industry need hands
seriously. Crappy events and shows are all over the place. hmmmmm. Let
me stop here please''.
Anonymous says ''Models are living
mannequins and its not an easy task. Overseas, its someone's full time
job but it is not classified as such here (GHANA).
In
Ghana, modelling is not quite what we expect it to be, talking about
the long waits during castings, and then after being picked, the days of
stressful rehearsals and fitting that extends to late nights, and as
such difficulty in getting vehicles home, and at the end of everything,
organizers of the show won't get you paid. Not even a token. Sometimes
at least if you know you won't pay the models, at least provide them
with transportation means for the rehearsals and fittings
cause we are treated like fashion slaves. Let's see if models come
together and go on strike, if there will be fashion shows and pageants.
Another thing that is making the industry lack behind, is the number of
desperate models in the system, when good models decides to stand their
ground on the maltreatment then a desperate model would rather fight to
get the models spot and do it for free not minding his or her worth..Yes
and there is a popular saying that "all male models are gays" which is
definitely not true. Modelling is being led by passion, and any human
can have passion for the job. It just happens to be that mostly it's the
gay guys who tend to have more passion for it, guessing maybe because
of the glamorous lifestyle models live, the fame and exposure. If you
are straight, being a model doesn't make you gay, and being in a gay
dominated industry sorry to say, doesn't make you gay, you know what
your in the industry for, you have your aspirations, dreams and goals,
if a model, designer or client who is gay make advances at you, just let
your mind out with humility, you are not gay, and then move on to
achieving your dreams, cos you'll go no where if you concentrating on
the fact that gays are in there and you don't wanna be part, build your
self esteem and stay on track. That's it.''

SAYS "Modelling is fun or will i say it is meant to be fun. it is a
game meant to be enjoyed. You feel the music while on the runway, see
flashes of he camera on you,you rush into another outfit backstage and
have the designer give you one last touch on it (smiles). You are on a
photo section, you enjoy the game the flash from the camera is making out
of you. Please let's not make this fun die away. For the love of
modelling''.
Hannah says,
''really, what i have to say is much oooo.it would full a long note so, i better shut up.
