The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Plateau Command,
has said it will be deploying 2,200 officers and men to enhance
security in Plateau during this weekend Eid-el-Fitri celebrations.
This was disclosed by the commandant of the Plateau State command, Mr. Felix Gbolade, on Thursday in Jos.
According
to him, the 2,200 officers and men will be deployed in the 17 Local
Government Areas, assuring the public of the corps’ commitment to
ensuring a peaceful Sallah celebration.
“I
am reassuring the general public of the NSCDC’s commitment to working
in synergy with sister agencies in the state to forestall any breakdown
in peace and order,” he said.
The commandant also advised the public, especially youths, to shun violence.
“I advise the youth to desist from being used by people with nefarious
intentions to perpetrate violence, which would lead to breach of the
law.
“I am calling on parents to warn their children and wards to desist from engaging in violence during and after the celebration.
“All the security agencies are on the alert to nab anyone with such intentions,” he said
Gbolade
however called on all citizens to go about their legitimate businesses
and to report any suspicious movement by groups or individuals to NSCDC
formations or other security agencies.
