Sergio Ramos today signed a five-year contract extension at Real Madrid that effectively ends United's interest.
He will unveiled at a ceremony in the stadium's presidential box at 12:30pm today.
Real had been willing to offload
Ramos, 29, on the Red Devils earlier this summer when it was believed
they could land goalkeeper David De Gea from Old Trafford.
They wanted £64million for their star defender but United would only go as high as £35m - having had a £28m bid rejected.
After talks on both Ramos and De
Gea deals stalled over disagreements with transfer fees, Real moved to
secure the former before the deadline day rush.
Spain centre-half
Ramos' previous deal was due to expire in 2017 but the new contract will
keep him at the Bernabeu until he is 34.
This comes as a blow to United as they struggle to land Nicolas Otamendi amid reports Manchester City are keen on the defender.
Valencia
are determined to retain centre-back but are powerless to
prevent United or City triggering his £35m release clause.
