Barcelona superstar Neymar is open to joining Manchester United this summer.
This is according to Jamie Jackson of the Guardian, who understands that United have a long-term strategy in place to sign the Brazil international.
The Red Devils are acutely aware that it will be difficult to sign
the world-class forward before the transfer window closes on September
1, but Manchester United believe the transfer could happen next summer
if they fail to land him this month.
Sources close to the player have told the Guardian that Neymar would
consider joining Manchester United. He is reportedly attracted by the
size and history of the English giants, while the opportunity to play in
the Premier League also appeals to the South American.
The Sun
reported on Friday that Manchester United’s executive vice-chairman Ed
Woodward was in Barcelona last week to hold talks with the Catalan
giants over a potential deal for Neymar, while Louis van Gaal name-checked the Brazilian as a player he admires in one of his pre-season press conferences.
