Eden Hazard has leadership qualities to succeed John Terry as Chelsea captain says Jose Mourinho

Jose Mourinho believes Eden Hazard has the leadership skills to be a candidate for the Chelsea captaincy in the future.
Hazard has become Chelsea's biggest star and played a major role in the club winning the Premier League and Capital One Cup last season.

John Terry has worn the armband since 2004, but will turn 35 in December and admits he may have just two years left in his career.

Mourinho has other players on his short-list including Branislav Ivanovic, Gary Cahill and Cesc Fabregas, but insists Hazard's ability to lead by example on and off the field makes him a worthy contender one day.
He told Standard Sport: "On the pitch he leads. He is not afraid to take responsibility. He is not afraid to get the team in a dark situation and bring blue sky again for the team. He is not afraid of this.

"He is a guy with great discipline. He is not the kind of guy you see setting bad examples and so on.

"So I think he can be a leader. His ambition is coming, he is also the vice-captain of the Belgian national team. He is in his fourth season at Chelsea so he didn’t arrive yesterday.

"Eden is coming with big status now and was voted one of the top ten players in Europe last year.

"In my opinion he should be in the top three not in the top ten. Let’s see what is going to happen but we have these people. But let’s say John and Branislav are our captains and the others are ready to come."
