United are standing firm on their £33million valuation for the goalkeeper, while Real are yet to make an official approach.
The hardball stance has left De Gea with no option but to return to Manchester to begin pre-season training on Monday morning.
When asked by reporters about Madrid, he told Cuatro: "Real Madrid? I have to return to Manchester for pre-season."
De Gea's jet arrived back in the early hours on Monday morning.
